“Can I borrow some money from you?” My response:

Hey, Someone asked me for money recently. I have a standard answer when it comes to lending money, and that answer is: “No.” It’s not that I don’t care or don’t want to help them. It’s just that I know from experience that most people will not pay you back, and you’ll then have to waste even more money (in the form of your time) following up to remind them. Besides, someone who’s perpetually broke does not need to get more loans.  They need to be taught better financial habits. More cashflow to them just means they have more money to spend faster. I’m sure you’ve heard how most lottery winners who win million dollar jackpots are broke within 5 years.  It’s very true.  At my Platinum Mastermind, which is all about wealth creation, retention, and investing, we actually show studies that talk about this phenomenon. Despite what most believe, more cashflow is not the answer to becoming financially free if you have poor financial habits. I’ve found that the majority of the population are terrible when it comes to money.  Not just average, but terrible. They struggle to make it.  And they are even worse at hanging on to it. You can’t really be surprised by this though.  Their habits around money have come from decades of conditioning.  Conditioning from their parents, the education system, and society. So please don’t take this as me judging broke people or thinking I’m any smarter than them. I was just taught good financial lessons from a young age. My parents were not wealthy.  They were, and still are wheat and sheep farmers.  Supporting 4 kids was really...

The 6 things you need to make your first 1m online…

Hey, So in today’s email I want to give you 6 critical strategies to making your first million online. But before I get to that, a quick update… I’m actually in San Jose, Costa Rica for the night.  I drove up from the MOBE Resort (which is about 2 hours away) to spend the day looking for furniture, tiles, and plants for the gardens. We are just a few weeks out from opening and so I really needed to get this done.  It should have been done months back, but I didn’t like the prices I was being quoted by all the architects and interior designers (who add on huge margins), so I decided to go to the sources direct. I started today off by going to the furniture stores to get their prices, which were almost half the interior designer’s! Then I got my Uber driver to take me to the factories where the furniture is actually made. And that’s where I found some really good prices. For example, to get the king size beds I want, which are done in a classic hard wood style, I was told I’d need to pay $3,000 USD a couple weeks ago by the interior designer I hired. Today, I was able to get the exact same beds, with 2 bedside tables for just $1,420.  And one bedside table lamp (but then I got them to throw in the 2nd one for free as well!). It reminds me of buying traffic.  When you have multiple middlemen, you’re always going to pay a lot more than you will having direct access to the sources. Now...
When everything is falling apart…

When everything is falling apart…

Hey, For the past few days I’ve been here in Costa Rica with some of the top affiliates in my company – people who’ve made a minimum of 6 figures online.  Some of them have made 7 figures (3.7m for one guy, 2.5m for another, and a third has made over 17m with me since starting back in 2013!). Each morning we’re masterminding and sharing what’s working in our business’s – and then in the afternoons heading out for fun activities. Like yesterday we went on ATVs (these 4 wheeler motorbikes) through a jungle, and today we’re going on a sunset cruise. But these sessions we’re doing in the morning are incredible.  I’m always a student first, so I too am getting a lot of good ideas. One of the most powerful things you can do for your business is find other business owners who are operating at about the same level as you are, and some who are a few steps ahead, and mastermind with them. As entrepreneurs we tend to get stuck in a rut from time to time.  We become fixated on whatever is currently working, and sometimes even overly dependent on those things. So at least every 90 days it’s a good idea to get out of the office and go and meet fellow business owners for new ideas and knowledge. By the way, all these training sessions we are doing each morning are being recorded. If you want to get a copy of the recordings, keep an eye out for my emails.  I’ll let you know how once they are all edited. What’s interesting...

“I’m Broke”—the greatest excuse (lie) wannabe entrepreneurs tell themselves …

“If you are born poor it is not your mistake, but if you die poor it is your mistake.” —Bill Gates ======== Hey, Greetings from Costa Rica! I’ve been here for the past few days at the new MOBE Resort. The place has changed a lot. Last time I was here was late last year. Each day there’s over 85 workers scurrying around trying to get the renovations done for our grand opening. Everything’s happening at the same time. Roll on lawns are covering 8 acres of dirt. Kitchens are being built. Bathrooms are being retiled. Trucks are coming in and out with delivery’s. We just had a few shipping containers arrive from China, with the custom tiles I wanted (am modeling another resort I saw in Mexico years ago, but we couldn’t find similar tiles anywhere in Costa Rica so we had to import). A couple days from now it’s our MOBE Leaders Retreat, and then a few days after that we have the Diamond Mastermind. I also flew over here to speak at a small group training we had for some of our highest paying clients—the ones in the picture to the right, below. During my talk, one of these clients asked me this question on behalf of his own prospects: “If I don’t have money to get started, should I just give up?” The reality is, lack of money never stopped any entrepreneur from moving forwards to pursue their dreams. If you want to become a business owner and start the path to quitting your day job, you cannot think or talk negatively like this. You cannot have a limited mindset—because if you...
3 Skills to Get Good at, When It Comes to Making Money

3 Skills to Get Good at, When It Comes to Making Money

Hey, It’s been awhile since I sent you a live broadcast. Things have been insanely busy here (which they always are—but that’s just how I like it!). It’s midnight here and tomorrow morning I’m getting on a plane for Fiji. I should probably go pack at some point! I’m going to Fiji to look for MOBE’s second resort, where we can host more of our Titanium, Platinum, and Diamond masterminds. After a couple days there, it’s on to Costa Rica, where I’ll be based for almost 2 months at our first resort, doing back to back events. Before I hit the road, I wanted to get this quick email out to you. Today I had a client in our film studio shooting some videos, and they asked me this question: “If you were to lose everything you have today, and you could only keep three skills you’ve developed in building your online business, what would be those three skills be, and why?” Here’s my answer (and these are things you need to focus on getting good at): Skill #1: The Ability to Sell The most important skill you need is the ability to sell. This skill is number one. If you can’t sell, you’re going to have a hard time making any money online. You may not like to hear that. I know I certainly didn’t when I first started out (most of us naturally don’t like to sell). But until something is sold, no money is exchanged. Until money is exchanged, no one gets paid. When you think about it, we’re all in sales. We are selling (and being sold to) all the time. Sales is just influence....
